A Shift I Recently Saw in a Client’s Experience
After reflecting on how I have moved toward working with businesses in a more consistent rhythm, I was reminded of a recent client experience that really stood out to me.
When they first started working with me, they had previously worked with someone else on their taxes.
At the time, they believed everything had been handled correctly.
But after receiving notifications related to their business, they realized there were things that hadn’t been addressed correctly, and the person they were working with would not answer their questions or help them resolve the errors.
As we began working through their information together, it became clear that there were a number of things that needed to be revisited.
There were areas that didn’t fully align. Some items had been handled in a way that required correction. And we spent time working through different parts of their financial setup to make sure everything was accurate and complete moving forward.
At the same time, they had a lot of unanswered questions.
They weren’t sure what had been included.
There were areas that felt unclear.
And previously, there hadn’t really been space to talk through how everything fit together.
So part of our work early on involved both cleaning things up and building a clearer understanding of how their information flowed together.
This year felt very different.
As we moved through the process, the information was much clearer.
There was a better understanding of what was being reported and why, and they expressed that the overall experience felt clearer and more straightforward.
At one point, they mentioned that they felt like they could finally see their full financial year more clearly.
That stood out to me.
Not because everything is perfect.
We are still working through process improvements and continuing to refine things over time. But there was a noticeable shift in how they were experiencing their numbers. Instead of reacting to a deadline, there was a sense that they were building a process they could rely on. And that created a different kind of momentum.
More direction.
More confidence in what they were looking at.
And a clearer understanding of how things were coming together.
They also shared that having someone to work through questions with made a difference.
Not just in completing the work, but in feeling more supported as they moved through it.
It was a small moment in the overall process, but it reflected a much larger shift in how the business owner was experiencing their finances.
